The Teatro Grande Foundation of Brescia presents the 2024 Seasons.
After the extraordinary year of being the Italian Capital of Culture, the Teatro Grande Foundation returns to programming in the various halls of the Teatro Grande a Season divided into the two traditional half-years of performances (from January to June and from September to December), distributing the artistic appointments over the ten months of programming.
As per tradition, the Opera and Ballet Season will be located in the second half of the year and will have a dedicated presentation in the coming months.
The Teatro Grande confirms its eclectic and multidisciplinary vocation (music, dance, cultural projects) by presenting the great orchestras and performers of music, the most interesting international dance companies, young dance talents, and projects aimed at the younger generation and beyond to stimulate knowledge and participation in the city’s cultural life.
A programme that unravels through the themes of contemporary debate (climate change, the relationship between nature and the human, the unknown and the quest for knowledge, the fragility of the body, the richness of artistic diversity) and some of the most significant anniversaries such as the 50th anniversary of the Piazza Loggia massacre and the 100th anniversary of Giacomo Puccini’s death.
The summer period will instead be an opportunity to renew the important collaboration with the Province of Brescia for the Il Grande in Provincia project, which takes the artistic excellence of the Teatro Grande beyond the city boundaries, creating opportunities to enhance the beauty of our Province’s landscape through a variety of musical forms.
The Foundation will then continue its commitment to creating opportunities for inclusion and social wellbeing through the activities of the OPEN and Grande Comunità projects, which for years have made the Teatro Grande an institution open to all and a point of reference at Italian level in the accessibility of live performances. The Dance Well project dedicated mainly, but not exclusively, to people living with Parkinson’s is also confirmed for 2024: the group formed in 2023 and made up of around 40 people will therefore continue to meet every Tuesday morning at the Teatro Grande to practise this special dance practice. Participation in the project is also open to new participants.
