The stage
The quality of the stage as well as its acoustics and lighting fixtures are the essential characteristics that determine the value of a theater.
The space reserved for the stage includes the proscenium where the performance takes place, a rear stage, a grid, a manual-mechanical or electrical motion system, the artists’ dressing rooms, the director’s booth, and an easy access to the exterior for easy scenery and technical equipment assembly / disassembly.
In Teatro Grande, the large area that every theater has which serves as scenery storage has side walls and two internal column rows connected longitudinally by three arches. Here, the roof bearing structure is visible and is an interesting example of 19th century engineering work. The stage wooden floor and its supporting structure were rebuilt with the orchestra pit in 1984. The wooden structure and scenery equipment are connected with flying bridges, winches, and pulleys. The mechanism of the proscenium arch clock is also positioned here.
The stage is not completely horizontal but has a 5% incline towards the main floor so every person can have a prospective view irrespective of where s/he is seated.
