Since 2017, the Teatro Grande Foundation has been promoting OPEN, the inclusion project dedicated to sensory disabilities. Thanks to the coordination of Prof. Elena Di Giovanni of the University of Macerata, the Foundation aims to bring the sensory disabled (visual and hearing) closer to the Teatro Grande and make the performances comprehensible and open to all.

The OPEN project is developed on two fronts: on the one hand it allows, the first in Italy, the enjoyment of performances through innovative Sennheiser technology (a leading sound company in the international field), and on the other hand it provides in-depth itineraries that are an aid to understanding the performances and the theatre itself. On these occasions it is possible to get to know the fascination of the theatrical machine up close, while also meeting the workers who live the world of entertainment.

It should be noted that the Teatro Grande has a stairless entrance from Piazzetta Paganora with direct access to the Ridotto of the Teatro Grande. The spaces of the Sala delle Statue, the Ridotto and the Sala Grande are accessible by floor; the Saletta Butterfly, the stage and the upper floors are accessible by stairs and lift.
